George Herbert is known as the lyrical author of “King of Glory, King Of Peace.” He went to school at Westminster School and Trinity College at Cambridge, England and became the public orator for the school. It was his task to give speeches to the school’s visitors and contributors. King James I heard him and make him one of his ambassadors. After King James dies, Herbert became ordained and set out on a career as a rector. Herbert, also a lyrical author, wrote a book of poetry about his struggles and victories with God. He gave the unpublished book to a friend to have him deliver it to his brother. Herbert passed away and the collection was published as The Temple in 1633.
