“Hear, Lord, The Voice of My Complaint” is a paraphrase of the Bible’s Psalm 64. The famous Gospel hymns publisher, William B. Bradbury, set “Hear, Lord, The Voice of My Complaint” to music. Bradbury was born in York, Maine and studied to be a musician under Lowell Mason. He published at least fifty-nine different American hymnbooks. He also studied in Germany. He is known as the founder of music conventions in New Jersey.
While “Hear, Lord, The Voice of My Complaint” is probably not one of Bradbury’s more notable songs, Bradbury has written and published some hymns that are very famous today, such as, “Jesus Loves Me, This I Know,” “Sweet Hour of Prayer,” and “My Hope is Built on Nothing Less.”

“Hear, Lord, The Voice of My Complaint” is actually set to a musical piece written by William B. Bradbury called “Monora.” It was published as a song of praise.
